William "Bill" I. Mast
September 27, 1926 ~ December 21,
William "Bill" I. Mast, 90, of Howe, passed away peacefully at 3:31 am on
Wednesday, December 21, at his residence from complications of heart
failure. He was born on September 27, 1926 in Elkhart County to Ira and
Fannie (Bontrager) Mast. On November 23, 1952 in LaGrange County he
married Doris Mishler, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are two
daughters, Jan Lauver of Shipshewana and Lorilee (Brian) Christner of
Wolcottville; four sons, Gary (Lynnette) Mast, Mike (Judy) Mast , Philip
(Sandy) Mast all of Shipshewana, Brian Mast of Howe; 12 grandchildren,
Stacey (Chris) Spolyar, Chris (Heidi) Mast, Evan (Kim) Mast, Jesse (Mike)
Whitten, Jenny (Rory) Igo, Trey (Kaitlyn) Christner, Dana Christner, Alisha
Christner, Melisa (Joseph) Raber, Kaitlyn Mast, Tanner Mast, Dylan Mast; 12
great grandchildren; seven brothers, Ora (Edna Mae) Mast of Mountain View,
AR, Mel (Esther) Mast of Middlebury, John (Jean) Mast of Sarasota, FL, Elmer
Mast of Middlebury, Leroy (Fannie) Mast of Mountain View, AR, Milo (Nancy)
Mast of Goshen, Levi "Lee" (Arlene) Mast of Nappanee; a sister-in-law, Anna
Mast of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,
Alvin and Dan Mast and a son-in-law, Jim Lauver. Bill was a farmer, drove
school bus for 16 years for Westview School Corporation and worked for Ace
Hardware, Shipshewana for 27 years, working until this past September. He
enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together, watching basketball games and
playing slow and fast-pitch softball as a young man. Visitation will be from
2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 27, at Marion
Mennonite Church, 5460 North 450 West Shipshewana. Family and friends
may gather at 9:30 am on Wednesday, December 28, at Shore Cemetery for a
graveside service; a memorial service will follow the graveside service at
10:30 am at the Marion Mennonite Church Services. Services will be
conducted by Pastors Ron and Char Roth. Memorials may be given to Marion
Mennonite Church building fund.

I am so very sorry for your family's loss of such a loving patriarch, role model
and faithful servant of God.  Bill will be greatly missed by all those who have
been blessed to call him friend.  I  am thankful that we can trust God's
promises and know Bill rests in our heavenly Father's arms now.   I will
continue to pray that Gods peace surround and comfort you in the coming

Lorilee, I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I remember him as a
great person with always a cheerful attitude and a smile.
