Vernon E. "Shorty" Christner
                                    April 1, 1929 ~ February 12, 2018

Vernon E. "Shorty" Christner, 88, of Goshen, died at 1:13 pm on Monday,
February 12, at Goshen Health Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born on
April 1, 1929 in Topeka to Eli and Polly (Yoder) Christner.  On December 28,
1978 in Syracuse he married Lavina (Miller) Mullins, she survives. Survivors
in addition to his wife are a daughter, Charlotte (David) Miller of Middlebury;
step-son, Ron (Donna) Mullins of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, two great
grandsons, two step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren; a son-in-
law, Dick Graber of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents; a
daughter, Doris Graber; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl (James Corkey-
McBride) McBride; a step-son, Bob Mullins; two brothers, Wilbur and
Freeman Christner. Shorty had worked in different area factories, including
Carriage in Millersburg for many years. He was a farmer and worked for Merl’
s Electric and Goshen Farm and Lawn in his retirement. He enjoyed
woodworking, gardening and mowing lawns. He was a member of New Paris
Missionary Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Thursday, February 15, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main
Street Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February
16, also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Pastors Mitch
Hile and Dave Hackney. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be given to United Cancer Services of Elkhart
