Verle E. Burke
April 21, 1932 -- April 18, 2014
Verle E. Burke, 81, of Shipshewana, died on Friday, April 18 at his residence.
He was born on April 21, 1932, in Woodsfield, OH, to Clyde and Alice (Cline)
Burke. On June 3, 1955, in Canal Fulton, OH he married Mary E. Church, she
died January 18, 2003. Surviving are a daughter, Mattie Pearl (Dan) Bowman
of Creston, OH; a son, Jim (Christina) Burke of Shipshewana; four
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Marylee, Kay and
Janet all of OH; two brothers, Vernon (Billie) Burke of Coshocton, OH and
Bob (Lois) Burke of Mazland, OH; and Joyce Bell, who was like a daughter to
him. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother- Dan Burke, and
sister- Clara. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Middlebury. He was a
Korean War Army veteran and is a member of the American Legion,
Constantine, MI. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Visitation will be from 5:00
pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 21 at Faith Baptist Church, Middlebury.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 22 also at the church.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Donald Chesher. Burial will be in Grace
Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to Faith Baptist Church
