Thomas "Tom" Ervin Humble, 77, of Middlebury, died at 5:00 am on Friday at his
residence, after an extended illness. He was born on May 31, 1941 in Lapeer, MI
to Albert and Grace (Glasford) Humble. On June 17, 1967 in Elkhart County he
married Katie E. Yoder, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are a
daughter, Kimberly Elaine (Dan) Mendez of Alvarado, TX; a son, Terry Eugene
Humble of Middlebury; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister,
Violet Wynkoap of Michigan; two brothers, Howard Humble of Tennessee,
Ralph Humble of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary
Edward Humble; a sister, Patricia Hicks; six brothers, Roy, Al, George, Jim, Bob,
and infant Calvin Humble. Tom worked for Supreme Incorporated, Goshen
where he retired in 2003. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1961 to 1963
and was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed watching horse racing and was an
owner/trainer of racing horses, mostly for Pletcher's Racing in Shipshewana.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 22, at Miller-Stewart
Funeral Home, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Sam Troyer.
Burial at a later date will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials
may be given to Middlebury Food Pantry.
