January 20, 1940 -- August 27, 2013
Shirley Ransom, 73, of Shipshewana, died at 11:00 am on Tuesday,
August 27, at her residence. She was born on January 20, 1940 in
Lagrange, to Donald Dean and Dora (Yoder) Tenneant. On December
26, 1986 in Elkhart she married Donald Ransom, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are three daughters, Vicki (Tim)
Weaver and Joan (Dennis) Sivits both of Shipshewana, Kimberly
Foreland of Warren; two sons, Keith Jr. (Joan) Shafer of Orland, Glen
(Sharon) Shafer of Indianapolis; 21 grandchildren, 37 great
grandchildren; a half-sister, Betty (Charles) Leslie of Kimmel. She
was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Delores Dunn, four
brothers, Donald, Bob, Jim and Jerry Tennant, half-brother, Lester
Brandeberry. She was a homemaker, had worked in different area
factories, enjoyed working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles,
watching humming birds, feeding the squirrels and gardening.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, August
29, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street
Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday August 30,
also at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Howe. Memorials may be given to Elkhart Hospice &
Palliative Care or Riley Children’s Hospital.
