Ruth Roline Hout
September 12, 1923 -- March 16, 2014
Ruth Roline Hout, 90, of Shipshewana, died at 7:30 pm on Sunday, March 16
at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She was born on September 12, 1923 in
Shipshewana, to Winzel Burr and Mary Ellen (Mast) Young. On August 28,
1943 she married Richard Charles Hout at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church,
Middlebury, he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are a son,
Steven Richard Hout of Edwardsburg, MI; a grandson, Jason (Katy) Hout and
a granddaughter, Julie (Steve) Haddix. She was preceded in death by her
parents and a brother, George Young. She was a homemaker and had
worked at Hostetler Drugstore in Shipshewana. She was an avid bowler in
LaGrange, Goshen and Elkhart and enjoyed spending time on the lake. She
was a graduate from the class of 1941 at Shipshewana High School. Friends
and family will gather at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury for a 2:00 PM
graveside service on Thursday, March 20. Services will be conducted by
Pastor Ron Russell from the First United Methodist Church, Middlebury.
Memorials may be given to IU Health Goshen Home Care And Hospice.

Stella Mast Bryant was my mother and she was an aunt to Ruth. Ruth was a
lovely lady and may she rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy for all the lives Ruth has touched. She was my neighbor
for 30 + years and a dear friend. I will cherish the times we had and all the
times we would just sit and talk. And watching my kids and their kids grow. I
love you and you will be greatly missed.
