Roger W. Nielsen
                                    December 6, 1935 -- January 3, 2019

Roger W. Nielsen, 83,of Middlebury, passed away at 2:10 pm on Thursday,
January 3, at Goshen Health Hospital, he had been in declining health. He
was born on December 6, 1935 in Chicago, IL, to Mads and Lucile (Beique)
Nielsen. On June 4, 1971 in Topeka he married Sandra "Sandi" Leming, she
survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are three sons, Stephen (Linda)
Nielsen, Randall (Dietra) Nielsen all of Middlebury, Allen (Chris) Nielsen of
Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Kimberly (Greg) Yoder of Middlebury; 16
grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Penny) Nielsen of
Middlebury and Michael Nielsen of CA. He was preceded in death by his son,
Scott Paul Nielsen and a sister, Mary Ann VanderReyden. Roger had
attended Bristol High School and earned his GED while serving in the Army.
He served in France, Germany and Indianapolis from 1955 - 1958. Roger had
worked at Stewart Coach in Bristol for 17 years, CTS Corporation in Elkhart,
Namco Industries, and Pyramid Mobile Home Industry until starting Victorian
Homes in 1971. He retired in 1995. He was a member of First United Methodist
Church, Middlebury, the Middlebury Historical Society, he served as a
volunteer on the Bristol Fire and Ambulance Department, he also volunteered
at Golden Rod and for Habitat for Humanity. He was director of First State
Bank for 18 years. He enjoyed wintering for 25 years in Dundee, Florida and
was part of the Middlebury Relief Fund. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 pm
on Tuesday, January 8, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main
Street Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00
am funeral service on Wednesday, January 9, at First United Methodist
Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Ron Russell.
Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society or First United Methodist
Church of Middlebury.

Sandi, I just saw Roger's obit & wish I could have come to the viewing.
Please know I am praying for you and your family. Roger was an awesome
father and I always knew you two had a wonderful relationship! So sorry for
your loss.
