Richard "Dick" J. Stutz
                                      July 3, 1925 -- September 30, 2020

Richard "Dick" Jay Stutz, 95, of Middlebury, died at 7:00 pm on Wednesday,
September 30 at his residence. He was born on the family farm on CR 43 in
Middlebury on July 3, 1925 to Eugene and Alice Faye (Sherman) Stutz. On
April 27, 1952 in Middlebury, he married Judy Cummings; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are four daughters, Sherrie Stutz, Terrie
Schmidt both of Middlebury, Robin (Jake) Schwartz of Holland, MI, Stacy
(Jeff) James of Middlebury; nine grandchildren, Angela (Jeff) Distelhorst,
Melissa Ride, Rebecca Ride, Nichole (Robert) Hume, Hope (Caleb) Sparks,
Charity Schwartz, Evan (Elena) James, Ayrton (Elizabeth) James, Ian
(Tierney) James; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Deltis) Calvert of
Atlanta, GA; two sisters-in-law, Jane Stutz of Elkhart, Aileen Stutz of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and
Edward "Bud" Stutz. Dick and Judy were the owner/operators of Middlebury
Plumbing, Heating, and Electric for many years. He was also the owner of
Middlebury Clock and Watch. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran
Church. Dick was a World War II and Korean War veteran serving in the Army.
He earned two Bronze Stars serving in the Korean War. He was a 70 + year
member and a former Post Commander of the American Legion Post 210
Middlebury. He was an avid bicycle rider on the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail
until the age of 94. Visitation will be from noon- 1:00 pm on Monday, October
5 followed by a 1:00 pm funeral service at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003
South Main Street, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Ron
Diener. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 210 will be in
Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to American
Legion Post 210 or the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail.
