Richard "Dick" Berkey
                               October 11, 1954 -- June 18, 2020

Richard "Dick" W. Berkey, 65, of Middlebury, passed away at 11:03 am on
Thursday, June 18, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. His passing was the
result of injuries that he had sustained from a fall that he had on June 2 at  
his home. He was born on October 11, 1954 in Elkhart to Paul K. and
Claudette M. (Bloss) Berkey. On December 28, 1974 in Middlebury he married
Vada J. Berkey; they were blessed with 45 years of marriage. Surviving is his
wife; daughter, Heather (Bryan) Duncan; son, Sean (Elizabeth) Berkey; four
grandchildren, Hannah and Conner Duncan, Lydia and Brycen Berkey all of
Middlebury. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother,
Larry Berkey. Dick was the owner/operator of Dick's Body Shop, which he
started in 1979, and then Dicks Auto Parts, which he started in 1985, both in
Middlebury. He also was also the owner/operator of Friendly Tire and
Stateline Salvage. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling. He liked
watching racing, specifically NASCAR and enjoyed spending time with his
family, especially his grandchildren. He graduated from Northridge High
School in 1973 and was a member of Bristol American Legion Post 143.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, June 25, at
Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Funeral
services will be at 10:00 am on Friday June 26, also at the funeral home.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Ron Russell. Burial will be in Pleasant
Valley Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to Parkinson's
Foundation Association or United Cancer Services of Elkhart
