Raymond Rhoads
                               December 4, 1935 ~ February 15, 2017

Raymond Rhoads, 81, of Goshen, formerly of Middlebury and Wabash,
died at 1:56 am on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Elkhart General
Hospital. He had been in declining health since a fall on February 5,
2017. He was born on December 4, 1935  in Wabash, to Ralph and Ruby
(Turnipseed) Rhoads.  He married Hanna Porps in July of 1961 in
Elkhart, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are two
daughters, Ann (Doug) Schultz of Dublin, OH, Lorie (Roger) Copeland of
Middlebury; son, James (Lisa) Rhoads of Wabash; five grandchildren,
Jeff and Griffin Schultz, Britta and Braden Copeland and Nick Rhoads;
three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents;
three brothers, Ralph Rhoads, Jr., Gordon Rhoads, Donald Rhoads;
three sisters, Catherine Liebo, Ardis Smith and Lois Rhoads. Ray had
worked most recently at Wearley Monuments in Osceola as a salesman,
a job that he loved and worked at several years. He had also worked in
the maintenance department for Peabody Retirement Community in
North Manchester and as the sexton at Falls Cemetery, Wabash for over
ten years. Ray was well known for assisting families with graveside
services for their loved ones when they did not have a minister. He was
a member of the Wabash Christian Church and most currently at the
Middlebury Church of the Brethren. There will be visitation from 10:00
am - 11:00 am on Saturday, February 18, with a celebration of his life
services to follow at 11:00 am all at Middlebury Church of the Brethren.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Janet Shaver. Burial will be in
Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
