Provi Kaufman, 88, of Anderson, SC, formerly of North Webster and
Middlebury, died at 2:00 am, on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at her
residence. She was born on January 17, 1926, in Luquillo, Puerto
Rico to Ricardo and Vicenta (Sanchez) Carrasquillo. On November
18, 1950 in Puerto Rico she married Orvin Kaufman, he died March 27,
1994. Surviving are son, James (Deborah) Kaufman of Anderson, SC;
two daughters, Ruth (Christopher) Strube of Centerville, IA; Edith
(Cirlo) Velazquez of Churubusco, IN; eight grandchildren; six great-
grandchildren; a sister, Iris White of Levittown, Puerto Rico. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband and a stillborn daughter.
She was a homemaker and had done nursing in her younger years.
Friends and family may gather at Bontrager Cemetery, Middlebury for
a 10:00 am graveside service on Friday, September 19th. A time of
visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm following the
graveside service; at 1:00 pm there will be a memorial service,
conducted by Rev. Eugene Bontrager. Visitation and the memorial
service will all be at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main
Street, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to Hospice of the
Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC 29621.
