Perry Jay Lehman

Perry Jay Lehman, 80, of Topeka, died at 1:50am on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his
residence.  He was born on October 15, 1932 in Topeka, to Erwin J. and Polly
(Miller) Lehman.  On November 23, 1961 he married Ida Mae Bontrager, she
survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are four daughters - Mary Ruth (Stewart)
Hochstetler of Goshen, Carolyn (Morris) Yoder of Nappanee, Norma (Arlin) Miller of
Middlebury, Velda (Matt) Eash of Goshen; seven sons - Marion (Deb) Lehman of
Goshen, Marlin (Norma) Lehman of Millersburg, LaVerne (Mary) Lehman of Goshen,
Wilbur "Willie" (Deb) Lehman of Nappanee, Ervin (Ruth) Lehman of Topeka,
Maynard Lehman of Shipshewana, Leon Lehman of Shipshewana; 39 grandchildren,
24 great grandchildren; three sisters - Katie (Noah) Miller of Topeka, Ella (Ora)
Miller of Topeka, Elsie (Orva) Bontrager of Shipshewana; an aunt, Ella Miller of
Topeka.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, a great grandson.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church, serving as a Deacon since
October 21, 1978. He was a farmer, worked at Topeka Livestock and at HWI Do It
Best in Topeka. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Monday February 25, 2013 and all
day Tuesday February 26, 2013, at the family’s residence, 7685 W. 700 South,
Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Wednesday February 27, 2013 at
Nelson Schlabach residence, 6810 South State Road 5 Topeka. Services will be
conducted by Bishop Wayne Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in
Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury is in
charge of arrangements.
