April 11, 1926 -- June 2, 2020
Nadine Burgoon, 94, of Sturgis, MI, died at 8:39 pm, on Tuesday, June 2 at
Thurston Woods Village, Sturgis. She was born on April 11, 1926, in
Osawatomie, KS, to Lisle and Clara (Shields) Chambers. On June 29, 1950 in
LaCygne, KS she married Wayne H. Burgoon; he died August 29, 2011.
Surviving are two sons, Steven (Sandra) Horn of Sturgis, MI, Lisle Robert
(Carola) Burgoon of Silver Springs, FL; five grandchildren, 12
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents;
two brothers, Wayne Chambers, Robert Chambers; sister, Marian Milstead.
Nadine was a homemaker and worked at the Essenhaus and Six Mile Cafe.
She wintered with her husband in Lake Okeechobee, Florida for many years
and lived there permanently the last few years. She was a terrific cook and
loved her Bible study at church. Nadine loved her family and enjoyed
spending time with her grandkids. The family will hold a memorial service at
a later date. Burial will be in Keightley Cemetery, Shipshewana. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests you do something nice for someone or give to a
charity of the donor's choice.

Our sympathies are with you at this time of loss. Nadine and Wayne always
had a smile and encouragement when our paths would cross. We would
miss them when they would go to Florida in the winter and were glad to see
them return to Shipshewana Lake in the spring.
