October 18, 1946 -- February 27, 2015

Mattie A. Slabach, 68, of Shipshewana, died at 7:50 am on Friday, February 27, at her
residence.  She was born on October 18, 1946 in LaGrange County to Amos A. and
Mary (Miller) Schlabach.  On November 11, 1965 in Topeka she married Edward
Slabach, Jr., he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are two daughters,
Darla (Gerald) Schlabach and Eva (Loren) Schlabach both of Shipshewana; six sons,
Devon (Edna) Slabach of Goshen, Melvin (Edna) Slabach of Shipshewana, Nelson
(Rose) Slabach of Millersburg, Earl (Ada) Slabach of Topeka, Wayne (Sue) Slabach of
LaGrange, Steven (Mary) Slabach of Montgomery; 45 grandchildren, 13 great
grandchildren; five sisters, Barbara Ellen (Wilbur) Yoder and Edna (Ervin) Bontrager
both of Topeka, Katie (Ernest) Mullett of Shipshewana, Anna (LeRoy) Lambright of
Ligonier, Naomah (Willie) Yoder of Millersburg; nine brothers, John (Katie) Schlabach
of Shipshewana, Ervin (Diane) Schlabach of Cleburne, TX, Mahlon (Treva) Schlabach
and Amos, Jr. (Ruby) Schlabach both of Shipshewana, Lloyd (Marietta) Schlabach of
Ligonier, Harley (LaVera) Schlabach of Middlebury, Ray (Miriam) Schlabach and Leroy
Schlabach both of Sarasota, FL, Nelson (Martha) Schlabach of Topeka.  She was
preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Jayden LaWayne Schlabach, sister,
Elsa Schlabach.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Saturday February 28, and all day Sunday, March 1,
at the family's residence, 3610 N. 850 W., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30
am on Monday March 2, at the Wayne Troyer residence, 8570 W. 350 N., Shipshewana.
Services will be conducted by Bishop Paul Troyer and the home ministers. Burial will
be in Lehman Cemetery, Shipshewana.
