Mattie M. Hochstetler, 80, of Shipshewana, died at 4:35 pm on Wednesday,
January 7, at her residence. She was born on April 28, 1934 in
Shipshewana, to Milton A.  and Fannie (Mast) Yoder. On March 14, 1957 she
married Eli J. Hochstetler, he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband
are five daughters, Elsie (Tobe) Hochstetler of Topeka, Mary Hochstetler at
home, Freda (Larry) Hochstetler - twin of New Paris, Susie (Aden)
Hershberger of Winesburg, OH, Ruby Hochstetler at home; four sons,
Melvin (Lena) Hochstetler of Howe, Erwin (Ruth) Hochstetler of Middlebury,
Floyd (Erma) Hochstetler of Pryor, OK, Harley (Eleanor) Hochstetler of
Nappanee; 36 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren,
22 step great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Hershberger of Shipshewana;
half- brother, Ora (Edith) Yoder of Chouteau, OK; two step brothers, Elmer
Miller of Ligonier, Wilbur Miller of Lagrange; .  She was preceded in death by
her parents, a son, Freeman Hochstetler - twin, one great grandchild, two
sisters, Susan Hostetler and Fannie Yoder, three half-brothers, Freeman,
Raymond and Truman Yoder, half-sister, Viola Bontrager, step sister, Wilma
and a step brother, Henry. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old
Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Thursday January 8,
and all day Friday, January 9, at the Samuel F. Yoder Residence, 10635 US
20 Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday January
10, also at the Samuel F. Yoder Residence. Services will be conducted by
Bishop Wilbur Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in Naylor
Cemetery, Shipshewana.
