November 7, 1977 -- November 5, 2013

Matthew Henry Sanford, 35, of Elkhart, died at 11:00 pm on Tuesday, November
5, at the University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago. He had been ill with liver
cancer, being diagnosed in September 2013. He was born on November 7,
1977 in Elkhart, to Henry and Cindy (Johnson) Sanford. On March 12, 2005 in
Elkhart he married Stephanie Mohler, she survives. Survivors in addition to his
wife are his father Henry Sanford, mother Cindy Livingston, step mother, Deb
(Rob) New and grandmother, Mary Johnson all of Middlebury three sisters,
Lelia Sanford of Constantine, MI, Missy (Tim) Van Der Heyden of Murfreesboro,
TN, Kristi (Matt) Freers of Pittsboro; a brother, Nick Sanford of Elkhart. He was
preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry & Velma Sanford and
grandfather, Larry Johnson. Matt had a BA in Health Care Administration from
the University of Phoenix and worked as a CNA and QMA at Greenleaf Health
Campus in Elkhart for the past seven years. He was a big comic book fan, liked
to bake and was learning how to can produce. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 6:00
pm on Sunday November 10, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main
Street Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday November
11, also at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery,
Middlebury. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or
the American Liver Foundation.

My prayers go out to Stephanie and your family. Matt was one of the best, he
always had a smile on his face. He will be missed each and every day, we loved
him he was a big part of our Greenleaf family

My Condolences to Matthews’s wife Stephanie Sanford and all of their
immediate family.  We will forever miss him and he will never be forgotten.  
Matthew had a generous spirit and a gentle Soul.  May he rest in peace in the
arms of Lord Jesus.

Stephanie and family So sorry for your loss. Matt was an amazing person in so
many ways. Always enjoyed the time working with him and knew I could
depend on him. So sorry I can't be there to show my final respects but know
you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love ya Matt and we will all see you
