March 3, 1921 -- October 20, 2019

Mary Rachel (Casurella) Ramundo, 98, formerly of Middlebury went to be with
her Lord on Sunday, October 20, at Greencroft Goshen. She was born on
March 3, 1921, in Melrose Park, IL; she was the daughter of Italian
immigrants, Nicholas and Theresa (Orrico) Casurella. On August 30, 1947 in
Evanston, IL she married Thomas Joseph Ramundo, Sr., he died January 8,
1995. Surviving are three sons, Thomas (Noni) Ramundo of Jackson, MI,
Bruce (Rosemary) Ramundo of Manhattan, KS, Dave (Linda) Ramundo of
Middlebury;  six grandchildren, Theresa (Robert) Anderson, Christy Davis,
Megan (Dave) Adams, Nick (Amanda) Ramundo, Lindsey (Daniel) Baker,
Peter Ramundo; six great-grandchildren, Natalie Anderson, Baily Anderson,
Brooke Davis, Joshua Adams, Nicole Adams, Indiana De Leon; sister,
Theresa (Al) Templin of Boca Raton, FL. She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband; a grandson, Samuel Ramundo and seven siblings. Mary
was a registered nurse in the Chicago area from 1946 to 1986, many years as
an emergency room charge nurse. To earn money for junior college and
nursing school, Mary worked wrapping candy bars for Mars Candy in
Chicago, a great job for a life-long chocoholic. She was the first resident of
Greencroft Middlebury. While living in a retirement community it was
important to her to stay connected with local youth so she often invited her
grandchildren and their friends over to share snacks and offered them words
of encouragement. She was an avid reader and a strong advocate of adult
literacy; she was very active in her church, especially in the music and
teaching departments. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:00
am funeral service on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Waypoint Community
Church, Goshen.  Services will be conducted by her son, Rev. Thomas J.
Ramundo, Jr. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM (CDT) at Elm Lawn
Memorial Park, Elmhurst, IL. Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be given to
Pacific Garden Mission; 1458 South Canal St., Chicago, IL 60607.  Online
condolences may be offered at

So very sorry to read about your loss - your mom and dad were very
"special" to Dennis and I - Dennis relied on Tom as a father. We both loved
them very much. At least Mary is finally with her Lord and husband and what
a life she lived. Mary will be missed by many. You are ALL in my prayers for
the peace that only comes from our Heavenly Father.

Tom and Noni Nick and Amanda The death of a parent/grandparent is a big
deal no matter the circumstance. Now you are beginning to learn to live
without the physical presence of you mother/grandmother. God bless this
transition. Grieve deeply the loss and celebrate wildly the life of your loved
one. I know of her only through the lives of son and grandson, and for that I
am grateful.
