Mahlon Cross, Jr.
Mahlon Cross, Jr., 79, of Topeka, died at 8:45 pm on Saturday, January 28, at
his residence. He was born on April 11, 1937 in Elkhart County to Mahlon and
Edna (Bontrager) Cross.  On March 5, 1959 in Topeka he married LouElla
Miller, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters,
Leora (Lamar) Troyer of Topeka and Laverda (Willard) Yoder of
Shipshewana; twin grandsons, Mahlon and Matthew Troyer; a sister,
Amanda Thomas of Goshen; four brothers, Alvin “Sonny” Cross of Prescott,
AZ, Ken (Inez) Cross of San Antonio, TX, Jim Cross of Elkhart, Alan (Wanda)
Cross of New Paris. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,
Howard Cross and Melvin Cross; a sister, Sylvia Frey. Mahlon, Jr. was a
farmer and had worked for 13 years at S & H Metal, Topeka. He was a member
of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Monday,
January 30, and all day Tuesday, January 31, at the family's residence, 6170
South 600 West Topeka . Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Wednesday,
February 1, at Howard Bontrager’s residence, 6260 West 600 South Topeka.
Services will be conducted by Bishop Ernest E. Bontrager and the home
minsters. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka. Miller-Stewart Funeral
Home, Middlebury is in charge of arrangements.
