Mabel Anna Nisley
                        April 14, 1927 -- September 5, 2019

Mabel Anna Nisley, 92, of Middlebury, died at 6:10 am, on Thursday,
September 5, at her residence. She was born on April 14, 1927, in
Columbiana, OH, to John J. and Merta (Ziegler) Martin. After graduating
from North Lima High School in Ohio in 1945 she received her Bachelor’s
Degree from Goshen College and her Master’s Degree from Notre Dame
University in art. On July 5, 1952 in Goshen she married LeRoy Nisley; he
died July 23, 1999. She taught art at Bethany Christian High School for 24
years, retiring in 1992. The design elements and principles in nature were
of spiritual interest to her. Surviving are daughter, Linda (Daniel)
Bontrager; son, Kenneth Nisley both of Middlebury; two grandsons,
Joshua Nisley, Caleb (Sharayaha) Nisley both of Grand Rapids, MI; sister-
in-law, Betty Martin of Dalton, OH. She was preceded in death by her
parents; sister, Ruth Martin; two brothers, John and Glen Martin. She had
been a member of Middlebury Church of the Brethren since 1996.  
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 8 and one
hour prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Monday, September 9 at
Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Janet Shaver. Burial will be in Miller
Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Middlebury Church of the
Brethren Building Fund or Bethany Christian Schools.
