Lydia Herschberger
                                  June 26, 1919 -- December 1, 2015

Lydia Herschberger, 96, of Goshen, died at 4:32 am, on Tuesday,
December 1, at Courtyard Healthcare of Goshen. She was born on June
26, 1919, in Arthur, IL, to Jacob E. and Joanna (Helmuth) Miller. On
November 27, 1963 in Middlebury she married Eli Herschberger; he died
July 3, 1991. Surviving are two step daughters, Mary Alice Yoder and
Pauline Schrock both of Goshen; 34 step grandchildren, 87 step great
grandchildren; a sister, Mary Kauffman of Arthur, IL; lots of nieces and
nephews including her caregiver, Brenda Bontrager of Middlebury. She
was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three step daughters,
Ida Lehman, Fannie Kauffman and Lovina Miller; two step sons, Perry
and Omer Herschberger; eight sisters, Lovina Hochstetler, Kate Troyer,
Dora Bender, Susie Helmuth, Anna Graber, Clara Kauffman,  Amanda
Yoder and Esther Schmucker; two brothers, Ezra and Peter Miller. Lydia
has done many things in her life including live-in housework, canning
and sewing in a factory. She spent over 30 winters in Florida. She stayed
busy by piecing quilts and comforter tops from scraps that people gave
to her and by reading good books. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 pm
on Friday December 11, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main
Street Middlebury and for one hour prior to the 2:00 pm funeral service
on Saturday December 12, at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury.
Services will be conducted by Pastors Kent Miller, Derrick Ramer and
Harley Troyer. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may
be made out to First Mennonite Church, Middlebury and designated for
either the Middlebury Food Pantry or Water for Life..
