Lydia B. Bontreger, 91, of Shipshewana, died at 11:07 am, on Monday, April
22, at her residence. She was born on June 1, 1921, in LaGrange County, to
Benjamin and Lizzie (Miller) Bontrager. On May 16, 1987 in LaGrange
County she married Elmer M. Bontreger, he died June 25, 2012. Surviving
are five step sons, Glen (Polly Anna) Bontreger of Topeka, Eldon Ray
(Sheila) Bontreger of Chanhassen, MN, Perry (Mary Lou) Bontreger and
Vernon (Sue) Bontreger both of Lagrange, Ora (Christine) Bontreger of
Battle Creek, MI; seven step daughters, Mary (Ez) Ropp of Middlebury,
Waneta (Raymond) Yoder of Donna, TX, Esther Ellen (Phillip) Yoder of Burr
Oak, MI, Edna Mae (Wilbur) Bontrager of Topeka, Freda (Lee) Richardson of
Shipshewana, Carolyn Bontreger of Shipshewana, Ruth (Orla) Bontrager of
Shipshewana; 45 step grandchildren, 130 step great grandchildren, two
step great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband,
parents, son-in-law, Elmer Eash, three brothers, Manasses, Joseph and
Noah Bontrager, two sisters, Saloma Mast and Barbara Gingerich. She was
a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will
be after 3:00 pm on Tuesday April 23, and all day Wednesday April 24, at the
family's residence, 3500 N. 500 W. Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at
9:30 am on Thursday April 25, at the Ray Miller residence, 3930 N. 500 W.
Shipshewana. Services will be conducted by Bishop Jacob Jones and
home ministers. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange. Miller-Stewart
Funeral Home, Middlebury, is assisting with arrangements.
