Lydia J. Bontrager, 88, of Goshen, died at 8:07 am on Thursday, February 8, at Millers
Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She was born on July 31, 1929 in Centerville, MI, to Jacob and
Susan (Miller) Bontrager. On September 25, 1958 in Goshen, she married Clarence
Bontrager; he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are two daughters,
Evelyn (Ralph) Harshbarger of Wheatland, WY, Miriam Bontrager of Spooner, WI; two
sons, Mervin Bontrager of Goshen, Devon (Katherine) Bontrager of Wheatland, WY;
nine grandchildren; two sisters, Fannie Hochstetler of Dunlap, Katie Bontrager of
Michigan; brother, Albert Bontrager of Branch, MI; sister-in-law, Mary Bontrager of
Nappanee. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Glen Ray Bontrager;
brother, Eli Bontrager. She attended Salem Mennonite Church. She enjoyed quilting,
sewing carpets, crocheting, and gardening. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and
6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, February 11 and for one hour prior to the 10:00 am funeral
service on Monday, February 12, all at Salem Mennonite Church, 23984 CR 46, New
Paris. Services will be conducted by the home ministers from Salem Mennonite
Church. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Gospel Express.
