Lois Hooley
                                December 17, 1924 -- January 7, 2016

Lois Hooley, 91, of Shipshewana, died at her residence at 11:30 am, on
Thursday, January 7, 2016. She had been in declining health. She was born
on December 17, 1924, in LaGrange County, to Evan and Clara Lambright.
On August 12, 1944 in Shipshewana she married LaVern Hooley; he died
August 31, 2010. Surviving is a daughter, Beverly Hooley of Middlebury;
two sons, Phillip (Dorothy) Hooley of Shipshewana, Byron (Nellie) Hooley
of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Allen (Lori) Hooley of Fort Wayne,
Nathan Hooley of Shipshewana, Abby (Benji) Knox of Pinnacle, NC, Cory
(Sarah) Hooley of Fort Wayne, Derek (Angela) Hooley of Atlanta, GA; 10
great grandchildren; Cameron, Sadie, Myles, Cole and Clara Ann Knox of
Pinnacle, NC, Lucas, Ethan and Andrew Hooley of Atlanta, GA, Charis and
Judah Hooley of Fort Wayne; four sisters, Ruth (Paul) Miller and Doris
(Ivan) Birky, Evelyn (Don) Hostetler all of Shipshewana, Rachel (Lee) Troyer
of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a
daughter-in-law, Janet Hooley. She was a farmer’s wife and a mother of
three, grandmother of five and a great grandmother of ten. She assisted
her husband LaVern with various pony excursions. She had a great
passion of caring for people. She assisted in the Mennonite Disaster
Service and was involved in the American Red Cross. She taught Sunday
school, Bible school and had a talent for flower arrangements while
working at the Wana Hardware in Shipshewana. She was a member of
Shore Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Saturday
January 9, and for one hour prior to the 5:00 pm funeral service on Sunday
January 10, all at Shore Mennonite Church, Shipshewana.  Services will be
led by the family. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday
January 11 at Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana. This service will be
conducted by Rev. Carl Horner. Memorials may be given to Rainbow Years
Learning Ministry.
