April 8, 1925 -- October 20, 2015

Lewis "Lew" E. Otto, 90, of Middlebury, died at 6:30 am on Tuesday, October
20 at IU Health Goshen Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on April 8,
1925 in Kokomo, to Fred and Nora (Bontrager) Otto. On November 27, 1947 in
Middlebury, he married Katie Mast, she survives. Survivors in addition to his
wife are daughter, Ruth (Ronald) Freyenberger of Goshen; three sons,
Kenneth (Jane) Otto of Goshen, Darrell (Beth) Otto of Middlebury, Richard
(Amy) Otto of Valparaiso; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren;
sister, Betty Yoder of Mendon, MI; brother, Floyd Otto of Middlebury; two
half-sisters, Martha (Elvie) Miller of Ligonier, Clara (Levi) Bontrager of
Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Edna and
Fannie and two brothers, Junior and Paul. He was a charter member of
Bonneyville Mennonite Church. He owned his own excavating business and
was a former school bus driver for Middlebury Schools. He enjoyed
collecting pens, pencils, and toy tractors. He was involved with OMS
International (Men for Missions) serving in India, Brazil and Haiti. Visitation
will be from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, October 23 at Miller-Stewart
Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Funeral services will be
10:00 am, Saturday, October 24, also at the funeral home. Services will be
conducted by Pastor Marcella Hershberger. Burial will be in Grace Lawn
Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to LoveWay. Online
