Lewis Hochstetler
                                    May 26, 1935 ~ June 20, 2015

Lewis Hochstetler, 80, of Shipshewana, died at 10:30 am on Saturday, June
20, at his residence. He was born on May 26, 1935 in Arthur, IL, to Joseph and
Barbara (Kauffman) Hochstetler. On March 15, 1955 in LaGrange County he
married Elizabeth Bontrager, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife
are three daughters, Loretta (Robert) Stutzman of Nappanee, Dorothy
(Wayne) Bontrager of Topeka, Ruth (LaVern) Miller of Shipshewana; three
sons, LaVern Hochstetler, Mervin Hochstetler both of Shipshewana, Marvin
(special friend Laura Anderson) Hochstetler of Middlebury; 15 grandchildren,
11 great grandchildren; a sister, Saloma Stutzman of Arcola, IL; four
brothers, Ammon (Katie Ann) Hochstetler of Nappanee, Ora Hochstetler of
West Farmington, OH, Casper (Wilma) Hochstetler of Shipshewana, Monroe
(Ruby) Hochstetler of Sullivan, IL; two sister-in-laws, Wilma Hochstetler of
Shipshewana and Mary Hochstetler of Tuscola, IL. He was preceded in death
by his parents; a son, Marlin Hochstetler; a sister, Susie Davis; four brothers,
Roman Hochstetler, Levi Hochstetler, Perry Hochstetler, infant Enos
Hochstetler. Lewis was a farmer and was a member of the Old Order Amish
Church in which he was ordained in 1969 as a minister and then in 2000 as a
Bishop. Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 21, and all day
Monday, June 22, at the Joe Hochstetler residence, 7245 West 200 North
Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Tuesday, June 23, at the
same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Vernon Slabach and
the home ministers. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.
