Levi E. Bontrager

Levi E. Bontrager, 89, of Shipshewana died at 6:45 am on Wednesday,
October 12, at his residence. He was born on April 1, 1927  in Middlebury to
Ezra and Susie (Lehman) Bontrager.  On December 8, 1949 in LaGrange
County he married Ada Mae Eash, she survives. Survivors in addition to his
wife are seven sons, Daniel (Anna) Bontrager of Jamesport, MO, David
(Cheri) Bontrager of Shelbyville, Samuel (Rhonda) Bontrager of Hope, Ervin
(Linda) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Melvin (Ann) Bontrager of Shipshewana,
Ray (Regina) Bontrager of Three Rivers, MI, Earl (Angela) Bontrager of
Columbus; five daughters, Esther (Lamar) Hochstetler of Middlebury, Freda
(David) Zehr of Goshen, Wilma (Galen) Miller of Millersburg, Mary Sue (Aden)
Chupp of Nappanee, Irene (Vernon) Schmucker of Shipshewana; 56
grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren; two brothers, Andy (Edna) Bontrager
of Topeka, Samuel (Ada) Bontrager of Middlebury. He was preceded in death
by his parents; stillborn son, Perry Bontrager; two great grandchildren,
Taylor and Elijah; four brothers, Harley, Daniel, Monroe, Joseph Bontrager;
three sisters, Amelia Yoder, Ella Nisley, Lizzie Mae Bontrager. Levi was a
retired farmer and carpenter; he was ordained as a minister in 1971 in the Old
Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Thursday October 13,
and all day Friday, October 14, at the family’s residence, 2135 South 1200
West Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, October
15, also at the family’s residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Karl
Dean Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery,
Shipshewana. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
