Lawrence "Larrie" Kirby
                             November 30, 1930 -- January 23, 2015

Lawrence "Larrie" Kirby, 84, of LaGrange, formerly of Elkhart and
Shipshewana, died at 8:55 am, on Friday, January 23 at Miller’s Merry
Manor. He was born on November 30, 1930, in Zanesville, OH, to
Francis and Florence (Alton) Kirby. On March 19, 1954 in Elkhart he
married Mary Shaw, she died October 26, 2001. Surviving are two
daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Laughlin of Shipshewana, Traci Kirby of
Elkhart; three sons, David (Jill) Kirby of Gobles, MI, Joseph (Diane)
Kirby of Naples, FL, Nicholas (Rachel) Kirby of Indianapolis; 12
grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Freed of
Sarasota, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents;
daughter, Jacquelyn Kirby; three sisters, Mildred Green, Marlin Gillen,
and Nancy Scott; two brothers, Francis Kirby, Jr. and Thomas Kirby.
He was a band instrument repairman and worked most of his years at
Selmers in Elkhart. He was a man of faith and had attended St.
Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic
Church, Central Christian Church, and most recently Marion
Mennonite Church. He enjoyed coaching his children's little league
teams and he was a US Army veteran, serving in Germany. Visitation
will be from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 25 at Marion
Mennonite Church, 5460 North 450 West, Shipshewana. There will
also be one hour of viewing prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on
Monday, January 26, also at the church. Services will be conducted
by Pastors Ron and Char Roth. Burial will be in Saint Vincent de Paul
Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital.
