August 3, 1925 -- September 13, 2015

John Roy Stanley, 90, of Goshen, died at 5:25 am on Sunday, September 13,
at Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen. He was born on August 3, 1925 in
Whitley County, to Roy Cuppy and Ruth (Besson) Stanley.  On April 14, 1951
in Gary he married Roberta E. VanHorn; she survives. Survivors in addition
to his wife are a daughter, Amy (Dan) Petry of Bristol; two sons, Matthew
Stanley of Williamsport, Mark (Donna) Stanley of Shabbona, IL; six
grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one step granddaughter, two step
great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret (Charles) Richard of South
Whitley, Charlotte (Nathan) Turnbow of Churubusco; two brothers, William
(Sally) Stanley of Fort Wayne, James (Kathy) Stanley of Delta, OH. He was
preceded in death by his parents, a great granddaughter, Lily Jean Neeley,
two sisters, Jean Hanover and Joan Mitchell, two brothers, Charles and
Robert Stanley and a step-sister, Helen Reddy. John was a TV repairman
retiring after working for over 20 years for Sears. He was a WWII Navy
Veteran, enjoyed golf, vegetable gardening, and was very involved with his
sons in the Boy Scouts. John was concerned about the environment and
was very conscious of nature and forestry. Visitation will be for one hour
prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Saturday September 19, at the
Meeting House, located in the Greencroft Health Care North facility, 1904 S.
15th Street, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastor Nina Lanctot.
Burial will be in Cleveland Township Cemetery, South Whitley. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parks
Foundation or IU Health Goshen Hospice.
