John L. Nisely
                               April 12, 1917 -- December 2, 2015

John L. Nisely, 98, of Shipshewana, passed away peacefully at 9:00 am, on
Wednesday, December 2, at Elkhart Hospice House, where he received
excellent care. He was born on April 12, 1917, in Hutchinson, KS, to Levi and
Mary (Borntrager) Nisly. He married his wife and mother of his children Mary
Catherine Plank in 1943; she died in 1992. He married Joan Revis in 1996;
she died in 2012. Surviving are three daughters, Barbara (Bernard) Eash of
Sturgis, MI, Judy (Marvin) Larue of New Carlisle, Sheri (David) Nisely-Frazier
of Noblesville; son, David Nisely of Miami, FL; foster son, Carl (Julia) Brown
of LaGrange; 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Yoder
of Hutchinson, KS; two brothers, Fred Nisly and Raymond (Mary) Nisly both
of Hutchinson, KS. He was preceded in death by his wives, parents, two
sisters, Elizabeth Bender and Emma Stutzman, two brothers, Henry Nisly and
Rufus Nisley. John was a retired dairy farmer and a member of the LaGrange
County Extension Conservation Service. He was an active member of Marion
Mennonite Church since 1952. He volunteered with Mennonite Disaster
Services, Menno Hof and with the Mennonite Central Committee including
working with Ten Thousand Villages. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 6:00 pm on
Sunday December 6, at Marion Mennonite Church, 5460 North 450 West
Shipshewana. Family and friends may gather for a graveside service at 9:00
am on Monday December 7 at Shore Cemetery. Following will be a
celebration of life service at 10:30 am at Marion Mennonite Church.  Services
will be conducted by Pastors Ron and Char Roth and Pastor Kenzie
Intemann.  Memorials may be given to Marion Mennonite Church or Center for
Hospice Care.
