James F. “Jim” Morgan
James F. “Jim” Morgan, 78, of Middlebury, died Friday, August 28, 2020 at
Elkhart General Hospital. He was born July 10, 1942 in Warsaw, Indiana to
Frank and Joan Morgan.  On June 27, 1970 he married Cathy Smucker in
Middlebury, Indiana.  Recently, they celebrated 50 loving years with family
and friends. She survives along with a daughter, Jennifer L. Morgan of
Brownsburg, Indiana and a son, James C. (Tiffany) Morgan of Middlebury,
Indiana and a sister, Gretchen Jones, Warsaw, Indiana.   Along with his
parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and David. Jim
grew up in Elkhart, Indiana and served in the United States Navy.  He was a
member of First United Methodist Church of Middlebury, the American
Legion Post 210, the George Washington Masonic Lodge #325 and Elcona
Country Club.  A Middlebury resident since 1970, Jim held several
management positions at Coachmen Industries and was one of the owners
of Santa Fe Automotive in Elkhart.  He retired in 2008. Always active in
community events, Jim was very involved with the Middlebury Jaycees,
Middlebury Little League, Raider Booster Club and the Middlebury Golf
Classic.  Jim served as president of the first Middlebury Park Board and was
a past president and member of the Elcona Country Club Board.  He also
served 10 years on the Middlebury Schools Board of School Trustees.
In his retirement, Jim had a never-ending list of things to do.  He enjoyed
meeting and talking with friends at breakfast.  He was always busy--
refinishing family furniture, golfing with friends, planning dinners or dining-
out, watching sports, reading and playing with the family dogs.  His love for
his children was deep and abiding.  He enjoyed planning projects with them,
advising them and working with them to do it “right” the first time. He will   
be missed by all who knew him. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 to 6:00 pm
on Monday, August 31 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Per the
funeral home and family’s request, face covering will be required and
mingling by guests will be limited. The family will be holding private funeral
services with Pastor Allison Yankey officiating. Burial will be in Grace lawn
Cemetery, Middlebury with full military honors being provided by the
American Legion, Post 210 Middlebury. Memorial contributions may be
given to Gary Sinise Foundation, American Cancer Society or First Tee of
