James Charles Ragsdale
                                  July 9, 1941 -- January 21, 2020

James Charles Ragsdale, 78, of Middlebury, died on Tuesday, January 21
at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1941 in Johnson
County, IL, to Guy and Martha Marie (May) Ragsdale. On January 23, 1960  
in Elkhart, he married Betty Nichols; she survives. Survivors in addition to
his wife are four daughters, Tina Ragsdale, Teressa Erickson both of
Middlebury, Treva (fiancé Jason Baker) Wyatt of Cassopolis, MI, Trenda
(Fiancé Randy Fry) Ragsdale of Middlebury; son-in-law, Ferman Tijerena of
TX; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Cora of
OH, Sally (Robert) Fabion of Elkhart; two brothers, Guy Ragsdale, Jr.,
Bradley Joe Ragsdale both of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his
parents; daughter, Terena Tijerena; grandson, James William Colby Yoder;
four sisters, Juanita Ragsdale, Myra June Winters, Darla Ragsdale, Connie
Upham; two brothers, Rodney Lee Ragsdale, William Brent Ragsdale.
James worked for the Elkhart City street department for 26 years and had
done Amish taxi work. He was a handyman and loved to work on cars. He
enjoyed fishing and playing solitaire. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00
pm Friday, January 24 followed by a 1:00 pm funeral service at
Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Burial
will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Bristol. Memorials may be given to the
funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
