November 25, 1938 -- February 23, 2019

James "Jim” L. Miller, 80, of Middlebury, died on Saturday, February 23 at his
Florida residence in Palmetto, FL. He was born on November 25, 1938, in St.
Joseph County, to Wilford and Ruth (Mummert) Miller. On April 3, 1960, in
Elkhart County, he married Janet Ulrich; she survives. Survivors in addition
to his wife are daughter, Julie (Kevin) Gruver of Goshen; son, Jerry (Juanita)
Miller of Middlebury; five grandchildren, Kristi Acord, Jimmy Gaskill, Kelly
Schrock, Rebecca Miller, Tim (Ashley) Clark; five great-grandchildren, Holli &
Tyler Acord, Chandler Naquin, Russell Gaskill, Koltyn Clark. He was
preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Miller. Jim was a caring
and loving husband and always put his wife and family first. He was a very
selfless, kind and patient man. He cherished his grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. He was a member of the West Goshen Church of the Brethren,
Middlebury Fire Department for 31 years, Goshen Iron Horsemen, and the
American Legion Post 210. He served on the Middlebury Town Council for 6
years and had been currently serving on the Middlebury Township Advisory
Board for many years. Jim was an electrician at several local companies and
was owner/operator of Jim's Shell Service in Middlebury. He retired from
Middlebury Enterprises in April 2006. He enjoyed camping, motorcycling,
NASCAR, traveling and wintering in Palmetto Florida and was an avid
Chicago Cubs fan. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Donald
Westerhausen, Dr. William Buckley, Dr. Amberly Burger, Dr. Wheeler at the
Goshen Cancer Center and Dr. Wurtz at the Simon Cancer Center in
Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 1:30 pm on Friday, March 1,
prior to a 1:30 pm funeral service at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South
Main Street, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Norman
Replogle. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may
be given to Camp Alexander Mack or West Goshen Church of the Brethren.

I will always remember Jim whistling for Jerry and Julie to come home, when
we were out playing. I know you will fell the loss. You are all in our prayers.

I've known Jim and Janet for many Years and have had many fun and
Comical conversations with them, at one time being a neighbor some years
ago. Both Jim and Janet were and are REAL, people! Our Sincere
