James D. Geyer
                             January 19, 1948 -- May 8, 2017

James D. Geyer, 69, of Shipshewana, died at 10:30 am on Monday, May 8,
at his residence. He was born on January 19, 1948 in Goshen, to Richard
and Betty (Wagner) Geyer. On August 24, 1985 at Stone Lake, he married
Judy Zigler; she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are three
daughters, Jessica Geyer of Holt, MI, Dalis (Joseph) Werner of Westville,
Melissa Geyer of Charlotte, MI; son, Jim (Joyce) Geyer II of Constantine,
MI; 14 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; his mother Betty of
Goshen; two sisters, Janis (Terry) Nelson of Shipshewana, Jeri Lantz of
Mishawaka; brother, Jay Geyer of Goshen.  He was preceded in death by
his father, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and grandmother,
Mary Wagner. Jim was a second generation stock car driver for 25 years,
racing all around the Michiana area. He was a fireman with the White
Pigeon Fire Department for 31 years and enjoyed clowning for 20 years.
Visitation will be from 12:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday May 13, followed by a
memorial service at 4:00 pm at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South
Main Street Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Nathan
Bronemar and Chaplain Jimmy Loden, former chaplain of the White
Pigeon Fire Department. The family will hold a private burial at a later
date in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to
Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, to assist the family with expenses.
