Jacob Fry, 88, of Shipshewana, died on Tuesday, May 8, at Pepin Heart Institute,
Tampa, Florida, following heart surgery on the previous Friday. He was born on
December 30, 1929 in Haven, Kansas, to Noah J. and Mary (Bontrager) Fry. On
December 8, 1956 in Emma Mennonite Church he married Mary Ellen Bontrager,
she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are three daughters, Geraldine
(Daryl) Hershberger of Wolcottville, Cindy (Dale) Miller of Vicksburg, Michigan,
Jana Murdock of Goshen; two sons, Darin (Sheri) Fry of Pettisville, Ohio, Doug
(Beth) Fry of Howe; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe and Ezra Fry; sister, Sarah
Miller. Jake had worked at different area RV trailer factories and also in the
wholesale automotive business; he had drove school bus for several years for
the Westview School System and in retirement did Amish taxi work. He enjoyed
working with horses and was often heard saying "nothing is impossible, some
things just take a little longer". Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on
Monday, May 14, at Marion Christian Fellowship Church, 5460 North 450 West
Shipshewana. There also will be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:00 am
funeral service on Tuesday, May 15, also at the church. Services will be
conducted by Pastors Ron Roth, Char Roth and Joseph Raber. Burial will be in
Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to the church. Online

Prayers are with your family.  I am so sorry we will be gone next week and not
