May 14, 1937 ~ October 6, 2015

Gordon K. Nusbaum, 78, of Middlebury, died at 7:41 pm on Tuesday,
October 6, at his residence. He had been in declining health the past five
years with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on May 14, 1937 in Elkhart
County to Maynard and Trella (Blier) Nusbaum.  On October 30, 1965 in
Elkhart he married Sally Hunt; she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife
are a daughter, Debra (Daniel) Sturm of Westfield; a son, Gregory (Jill)
Nusbaum of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Jordan, Lucas and Molly. He was
preceded in death by his parents. He was a police officer with the Elkhart
Police Department for 19 years, the Middlebury Township Trustee and a
member of Faith Methodist Church. He was an Army Veteran, a member of
the Mason Lodge 183 since 1968 and the Elkhart FOP 52. Visitation will be
from 9:00 - 11:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am on
Saturday, October 31, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Services
will be conducted by Pastor John Hogsett with honors by the Elkhart FOP,
Middlebury Fire Department and Masonic Lodge. Burial with military honors
by the American Legion Post 210 will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery,
Middlebury. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Center for Hospice
and Palliative Care, Elkhart County Humane Society or the Boys & Girls

Sally & Family, Deepest condolences to you-all on Gordy's passing. I'm so
sorry we didn't keep closer contact after you guys moved & then we moved
to Indy. Gordy was a good friend, and I think we went clear back to high-
school. He will be missed. May God Bless him and be with all his loved-ones
in your time of loss.
