Ervin A. Whetstone
Ervin A. Whetstone, 91, of Topeka, died at 5:55 am on Monday, October 8, at
Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.  He was born on April 5, 1927
in Nappanee to Amos J. and Mattie (Borkholder) Whetstone. On October 28,
1948 in LaGrange he married Edna E. Lehman, she survives. Survivors in
addition to his wife are four daughters, Dena (Dan) Miller of Shipshewana,
Anna Mae (Joe) Wengerd of LaGrange, Wilma (Amos) Beechy of Wolcottville,
Martha (Harvey) Miller of Topeka; three sons, Amos Whetstone of Louisville,
KY, Joe (Polly) Whetstone of Topeka, Mervin (Sara) Whetstone of LaGrange;
36 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren;
sister, Anna (Paul) Graber of Guthrie, KY; three brothers, John Henry (Wilma)
Whetstone of Irvington, KY, Amos (Katie Ellen) Whetstone, Jr. of Goshen,
Dave (Alma) Whetstone of Goshen; two sisters-in-law, Katie and Sylvia
Whetstone both of Nappanee. He was preceded in death by his parents;
daughter, Mary Whetstone; daughter-in-law, Dian Whetstone; three
grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Joe and Jacob
Whetstone and a sister, Gertie Whetstone. Ervin was a member of the Old
Order Amish Church and had worked in both an area feed mill and sawmill.
Visitation will be after 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 10, and all day
Thursday, October 11, at the Joe Whetstone residence, 5925 S. 300 W.,
Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Friday, October 12, at the
same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Crist M. Miller and the
home ministers. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange. Miller-Stewart
Funeral Home, Middlebury is in charge of arrangements.
