June 24, 1947 -- December 11, 2016

Ervin Jay Hershberger, 69, of Elkhart, died at 8:30 pm on Sunday, December 11,
at Kalkaska Memorial Health, Kalkaska, MI. His death was unexpected. He was
born on June 24, 1947 in Topeka, to Menno and Mary (Schmucker) Hershberger.
On September 3, 1988 in Topeka he married Linda L. Hooley; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are his children, Lisa (Darren) Gottschalk, Mike
Hershberger and Jeff Hershberger all of Sturgis, MI, Brenda (Bill) Gordon of
Bronson, MI, Brent Hochstetler of Indianapolis, Lori (Ben) Rewa of Edwardsburg,
MI; seven grandchildren; Skylar, Laci, Jordan, Alyson, Kevin, Tyler and Christa;
four sisters, Gladys Hochstedler, Barbara Hershberger and Sue Hoth all of
LaGrange, Alma (Ora) Schrock of Topeka; two brothers, Simon Hershberger of
LaGrange, Owen Hershberger of WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ervin was working at Fiber By-Products in White Pigeon for the past nine years.
He had previously worked for Motor Wheel and Lambright’s Hatchery in
LaGrange. He was a hard working family man who loved camping and cooking,
especially while camping. He attended New Life Fellowship, enjoyed antiquing
with his wife and gospel music. Ervin was an animal lover, enjoyed raising
horses and spending time with his dog Sophie, who had made the trip to
Michigan with him when he passed. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 am on
Saturday December 17, with a memorial service following at 11:00 am at New
Life Fellowship, 2755 Indiana 5, Topeka. Services will be conducted by Pastors
Drew Ryall and Russ Hunsberger. Memorials may be given to Miller-Stewart
Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.

We appreciated the time spent with Erv & Linda at our cousins meeting together
this summer at the Essenhaus. Our hearts are saddened at this news but will
