Ervin R. Bontrager
                                       July 27, 1939 -- February 22, 2019

Ervin R. Bontrager, 79, of Topeka, formerly of Shipshewana, died at 10:00 pm
on Friday, February 22 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. He was born on July
27, 1939, in LaGrange County, to Reuben J. and Mary (Mast) Bontrager. On
April 9, 1959, in LaGrange County, he married Viola E. Schlabach; she
survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are five daughters, Velda (David)
Lambright of Philadelphia, NY, Mary Lou (David Lee) Whetstone of
Shipshewana, Elnora (Abner) Troyer of Shipshewana, Edith (Merlin) Yoder of
Middlebury, Edna (Earl) Otto of Shipshewana; five sons, Kenneth (Susan)
Bontrager of Chariton, IA, Omer (Leora) Bontrager of Hillsboro, WI, David Lee
(Vera) Bontrager of Hillpoint, WI, Ervin Jr. (Loretta) Bontrager of Topeka, Orla
(Rebecca) Bontrager of Shipshewana; two sons-in-law, Noah (Wilma) Yoder
of Bloomfield, IA, Myron (Treva) Miller of Goshen; 87 grandchildren, 86
great-grandchildren; five sisters, Edna Raber of Middlebury, Elsie (Melvin)
Yoder of Homer, MI, Mary (Lester) Lehman of Middlebury, Martha (Sam)
Schrock of LaGrange, Lydia Mae (Glen) Miller of Markesan, WI; brother, Orla
(Sally) Bontrager of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents and
two daughters, Karen Yoder and Esther Miller. He was a farmer and a minister
in the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Sunday,
February 24 and all day Monday, February 25 at the Ervin Jr. Bontrager
residence, 6565 W. 200 S., Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on
Tuesday, February 26 also at the Ervin Jr. Bontrager residence. Services will
be conducted by Bishop Harley Mast and the home ministers. Burial will be  
in Lehman Cemetery, Shipshewana. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home,
Middlebury, is handling the arrangements.
