October 9, 1950 -- December 3, 2017

Ellen Kay Pettit, 67, of Middlebury, died at 3:13 pm on Sunday, December 3, in
Shipshewana. She was born on October 9, 1950 in, Cleveland, OH to Homer and Lola
(Newton) Weinreich.  On September 27, 1969 in Cleveland, OH she married Michael
Pettit, he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are daughter, Michele (Joe)
Eickholt of LaGrange; two sons, Russell (Tesha) Pettit of Middlebury, Michael Jr.,
(Jami) Pettit of Syracuse; ten grandchildren, Cody Riley, Steven Riley, Arthaygus
McGuire, Natasha McGuire, Brooklyn Pettit, James Pettit, Chelsea Stein, Kaylyn Pettit,
Jazmyne Hensley, Drew Deney, Anita Deney; great-grandchild, Bailey McGuire; three
sisters, Dixie (Dan) Beatty of Bristol, Sandy (Pete) Brandt of Cleveland, OH, Paula
Givens of Independence, MO.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister,
Joan. Ellen had retired after working 16 years at Pittsfield of Indiana. She enjoyed
quilting, gardening, camping, motorcycle riding and fishing. The family will hold a
private memorial service. Memorial may be made to Miller-Stewart Funeral Home to
assist with expenses.
