Ella Yoder, 97, of LaGrange, formerly of Shipshewana, died at 3:55 pm on
Tuesday, October 16, at Life Care Center, LaGrange. She was born on
October 1, 1921 in Ford County, KS, to Phineas and Mary Edna (Miller)
Borntrager. On September 21, 1944 in LaGrange County she married Jacob
E. Yoder, he died May 28, 2000. Surviving are four sons, Jacob Lee (Mary
Lou) Yoder of Hutchinson, KS, Vernon J. Yoder of Syracuse, Benny Ray
(Chris) Yoder of Shipshewana, Amos Dean Yoder of Shipshewana; four
daughters, Dorothy Mae (Levi) Miller of Shipshewana, Susie Ellen (Diedrick)
Fehr of Cross Hill, SC, Mary Jean (Hal) Snow of Buford, GA, Idella Ann (Syl)
Yoder of Sugarcreek, OH; 32 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, 6
great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Edna Borntrager of Yoder, KS. She
was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Judy Kay
Shaffer; two grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jemima Yoder; son-in-law,
Owen Borkholder; five brothers, Dan, Benjamin, Jonas, Amos, and Samuel
Borntrager; seven sister, Lydia Swartz, Melinda Chupp, Polly Schrock, Anna
Schrock, Mary Yoder, Lovina Hochstetler, and Susanna Plank. She was a
homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be
after 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 18, and all day Friday, October 19, at the
Christie Schlabach residence, 155 Union Street Shipshewana. Funeral
services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 20, the same residence.  
Services will be conducted by Bishop Jerry Miller and ministers Dave
Wingard and Gene Troyer. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery,
Shipshewana. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury is in charge of
arrangements.
