Eli J. Hochstetler
                                       July 23, 1929 -- March 17, 2015

Eli J. Hochstetler, 85, of Shipshewana, died at 10:25 pm, on Tuesday, March
17 at his residence. He was born on July 23, 1929, in LaGrange County, to
Jacob G. and Mary (Christner) Hochstetler. On March 14, 1957 in
Shipshewana, he married Mattie M. Yoder, she died January 7, 2015. They
lived in matrimony for 57 years, 9 months, and 24 days. Surviving are five
daughters, Elsie (Tobe) Hochstetler of Topeka, Mary Hochstetler of
Shipshewana, Freda (Larry) Hochstetler of New Paris, Susie (Aden)
Hershberger of Winesburg, OH, Ruby Hochstetler of Shipshewana; four
sons, Melvin (Lena) Hochstetler of Howe, Erwin (Ruth) Hochstetler of
Middlebury, Floyd (Erma) Hochstetler of Pryor, OK, Harley (Eleanor)
Hochstetler of Nappanee; 36 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 10
step-grandchildren, 22 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his wife, a son, Freeman Hochstetler, one great grandchild, parents, two
brothers, Harley and Gideon Hochstetler, two sisters, Celesta Lehman and
Susie Schrock. He was a farmer and also trained horses. He was a member of
the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 1:00 pm Thursday, March
19 and all day Friday, March 20 at the family residence, 10505W US 20,
Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, March 21 at
the Samuel F. Yoder residence, 10635W US 20, Shipshewana.  Services will
be conducted by Bishop Wilbur Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be
in Naylor Cemetery, Shipshewana, IN.
