Edna M. Burner

Edna M. Burner, 97, of Mishawaka, died at 6:40 am on Tuesday, August
22, at Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend. She was born on
September 28, 1919 in Mishawaka to Carl and Josephine  (Andrews)
Zehrung.  Surviving are her two daughters, Sara (Mike) Avery of
Middlebury, Suzzanne (Melvin "Toshi") Kamika of Wahiawa, Oahu, HI;
son, Bruce Albert (Carly) Burner of Irvington, KY; six grandchildren,
seven great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter. She was
preceded in death by her parents; son, Fred Burner; three brothers,
Ralph Zehrung, Albert Zehrung, Harvey Zehrung; three sisters, June
Dixson, Mildred Galbert and Gertrude Crocker. Edna was a bookkeeper
and worked for Scotmore Lumber Company for many years. She was
one of only a few women still living that were part of the W.A.C.,
Woman's Auxiliary Corp. She ended up merging into the US Army in the
1st Army Corp as a Sargent. She enjoyed reading, crouching and was a
member of the Red Hatters. The family will hold private funeral services.
