Donald L. Ransom
                                   February 14, 1944 -- March 14, 2017

Donald L. Ransom, 73, of Shipshewana, died at 4:20 am on Tuesday, March
14, at his residence. He was born on February 14, 1944, in Charleston, WV, to
Charlie and Imogen (Anderson) Ransom. On December 27, 1986 in Elkhart he
married Thelma "Shirley" Tennant; she died August 27, 2013. Surviving are
four daughters, Valerie Malott of Elkhart, Vicki (Tim) Weaver of Howe, JoAnn
(Dennis) Sivits of Shipshewana, Kimberly Forehand of Middlebury; three
sons, Kenneth (Cynthia) Allen of Cassopolis, MI, Keith (Joan) Shafer, Jr. of
Orland, Glen (Sharon) Shafer of Indianapolis; 21 grandchildren, 40 great
grandchildren; three sisters, Betty (Harry) Rieff of Marion, Ethel (Troy) Page
of Cedar Grove, WV, Ruby (Gail) Ransom of Charleston, WV. He was
preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Sharon Allen; one sister; three
brothers and his parents. Don had worked at Elkhart Foundry for 18 years
and then later at U.S. Cargo for 10 years. He was known for always offering a
helping hand to his family and neighbors. He enjoyed feeding the squirrels,
collecting knives and Tasmanian Devil items and was a Dale Earnhardt fan.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 16,
at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Funeral
services will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 17, also at the funeral home.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Gordon Henke. Burial will be in
Riverside Cemetery, Howe. Memorials may be given to the agency of the
donor's choice.

I am so sorry to hear this. He was such a kind person. We will miss his visit
every Monday and Friday. We love you Don and please give Shirley a big hug
