David L. Bontrager
                                            February 4, 1924 -- February 18, 2014

David L. Bontrager (90) of Albion, died Tuesday, February 18 at 7:15 am at the North
Ridge Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albion, following a stroke two
months ago.  He was born February 4, 1924 in LaGrange County, Indiana to Levi R.
and Anna (Christner) Bontrager.  On January 31, 1946 he married Susie L. Miller; she
died March 15, 1997. They were married for  51 years.  The couple had no children.  
David had one sister Edna Mae (Daniel) Weaver who also preceded him in death,
and a stillborn sister Ida.   
David is survived by nieces and nephews.  
David was a member of Topeka Mennonite Church at the time of his death.  He also
attended St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Albion for Thursday evening community
dinners. David was a farmer and factory worker in his early adult years.  David loved
music and old steam engines, and enjoyed attending historical and musical
celebrations.  In his later years he delivered newspapers; he loved to drive and
drove his car to church in Topeka just a few weeks before his stroke.
Visitation hours will be Thursday, February 20 from 4-8 pm at Topeka Mennonite
Church, 206 E. Lake Street, Topeka.  The funeral service will be held Friday,
February 21, 2014 at 11:00 am with a viewing one hour before the service, also at
Topeka Mennonite Church. Pastors Conrad Showalter and Elmer Wyse will officiate.
Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Road 300 W., Topeka.  Nephews will serve as
