December 27, 1920 -- August 19, 2014
David A. Schrock, 93, of Middlebury, died surrounded by his family at 10:59
pm, on Tuesday, August 19, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing, after a brief
stay. He had been in declining health. He was born on December 27, 1920, in
Shipshewana, to Andrew and Anna (Yoder) Schrock. On January 27, 1944 in
Goshen he married Anna Ruth Bontrager, who died March 25, 2000. He then
married Viola (Schrock) Lambright on November 10, 2001 in Middlebury, she
survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Judy (Darold) Beachy of Mount
Gilead, OH, Velma (Sheldon) Swartz, Carolyn Schrock-Shenk, Shirley (Jim)
Troyer all of Goshen; a son, Stephen C. Schrock of Middlebury; two
daughters-in-law, Rhonda Schrock and Norma Schrock both of Middlebury;
a step-daughter, LaVerta Borntrager; three step-sons, Mervin, Vernon and
Gerald Lambright; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; sister, Lydia
Borntrager of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife;
two sons, Clifford and Larry Schrock; a great grandson, Michael Beachy;
three sisters, Polly Schrock, Amanda Yoder and Sarah Bontrager; four
brothers, Samuel, William, Edward and Andrew Schrock. He started his own
excavating business in 1964 and operated it with his sons for 43 years; still
operating the backhoe into his late 80's. He was known for his generosity
and service to others. He was a member of Griner Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday August 22, at Miller-Stewart
Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. There will also be
visitation one hour prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Saturday, August
23, at Griner Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by
Pastors DeWayne Yoder and Harley Troyer. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery,
Goshen. Memorials may be given to Rosedale Mennonite Missions.
