Daniel W. Bontrager
May 8, 1945 -- October 17, 2014
Daniel W. Bontrager, 69, of LaGrange, died at 3:27 am on Friday, October 17,
at Parkview LaGrange Hospital, from an apparent stroke. He was born on
May 8, 1945 in Sturgis, MI, to William J. and Ada (Miller) Bontrager. On
September 30, 1965 in Noble County he married Joann Miller, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter, Waneta Sue (Ervin) Miller of
Topeka; three sons, Larry (Freda) Bontrager of LaGrange, Lonnie (Michelle)
Bontrager of Millersburg, Leon (Ellen) Bontrager of Middlebury; 14
grandchildren; four sisters, Anna Kauffman and Mattie Bontrager of both
LaGrange, Emma (Daniel) Beechy of and Ada Bontrager both of Topeka;
three brothers, Amos (Mattie) Bontrager of Kingston, WI, Ervin Bontrager of
Topeka, Enos (Anna Marie) Bontrager of Shipshewana. He was preceded in
death by his parents, brother, Elmer Bontrager, brother-in-law, Daniel
Kauffman, two sisters-in-law, Martha Bontrager and Ida Bontrager. Daniel
was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. He was a retired farmer and in
his retirement he worked for Riegsecker Market place in Shipshewana.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Saturday October 18, and all day Sunday,
October 19, at the family residence, 7045 W. 50 S., LaGrange. Funeral services
will be at 9:30 am on Monday October 20, also at the family residence.
Services will be conducted by Bishop Ervin L. Yoder and the home ministers.
Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Shipshewana.
