Chris J. Bontrager
                                        February 22, 1929 -- April 5, 2017

Chris J. Bontrager, 88, of Shipshewana, died at 5:30 pm, on Wednesday,
April 5, at his residence. He was born on February 22, 1929, in Hutchinson,
KS, to Joe S.K. and Katie (Yoder) Bontrager. On October 18, 1956 in Topeka
he married Sylvia M. Yoder; she died January 18, 2011. Surviving are two
daughters, Ruth (Glenn) Lambright of LaGrange, Marlene (Glen) Miller of
Shipshewana; five sons, Kenny (Tressie) Bontrager, Wayne (Katie)
Bontrager, Dan (Betty) Bontrager and Dave (Irene) Bontrager all of
Shipshewana, Mark (Marla) Bontrager of Middlebury; 44 grandchildren, 84
great-grandchildren; four sisters, Clara Borkholder of Nappanee, Susan
Lambright of Middlebury, Anna Mae (Chris) Lambright and Betty Miller both
of Shipshewana; sister-in-law, Ida Bontrager of Goshen. He was preceded
in death by his wife, parents, three great grandchildren, brother, Herman
Bontrager, three brothers-in-law, Floyd Borkholder, Freeman Lambright
and Orla Miller. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church, a farmer
and had worked for Holly Park in Shipshewana. He and his wife had been
distributors for Shaklee Products since 1970. Visitation will be after 1:00
pm on Friday April 7, and all day Saturday April 8, at the Dan Bontrager
residence, 2355 N. 500 W., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30
am on Sunday April 9, at the Alton Bontrager residence, 2780 N. 500 W.,
Shipshewana. Services will be conducted by Bishop Mahlon Lambright
and the home ministers. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery,
Shipshewana. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is handling
