Carl Eugene Collins
                                     December 1, 1943 ~ June 6, 2016

Carl Eugene Collins, Age 72, of Middlebury, passed away unexpectedly at
home on June 6 of natural causes. He was born December 1, 1943 in St.
James, MO, the first child of Lawrence Earl “Curly” and Janice Louise
(Hooten) Collins.
Carl was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO and
enlisted in the navy after graduation. Upon being discharged from the
Navy, Carl married Twila Marie King on March 3, 1963 in Sedalia, MO. They
have two children, Carl Eugene Collins, Jr. and Sherry Ann Collins Tuttle
and were happily married for 53 years.
Carl owned an RV dealership, Collins Camper Sales in Sedalia, MO for 25
years, after which he moved to Elkhart, in 1987 and went to work for
Morgan Drive-Away as a truck driver. He also worked as a receiver for Thor
Industries of Goshen, for 15 years, until his retirement.  His work ethic was
never questioned, and he was a great provider for his family.
He was not all work however. Carl was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed
hunting and fishing with family and friends, throughout this life. He has
hunted and fished from Northern Canada to Colorado and from Indiana to
Florida, with several stops in between. If Carl was catching fish, and you
weren’t, he was quick to let you know, “You’re not holding your mouth
right.” NASCAR was also a favorite pastime, whether attending a race in
person, or rooting on an Earnhardt on T.V. He was a voracious reader, with
a preference for westerns, especially Louis L’Amour, and had read
thousands over his lifetime. Old western movies and war stories were also
among his favorites.
Carl is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Earl “Curly” Collins, his
mother, Janice Louise (Hooten) Collins, a nephew, Jerry Allen Collins Jr, as
well as several aunts and uncles.
Carl is survived by his wife, Twila Marie Collins, of Middlebury, his son Carl
Eugene Jr, (Gail Sue Noel) Collins of Shipshewana, his daughter Sherry
Ann (Chris) Collins Tuttle of Osage Beach, MO, two sisters, Phyliss “PJ”
(Ed) Prusia of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Connie (Walter, “Steve”) Koering of
Sedalia, MO, four granddaughters, four step grandchildren, 12 step great
grandchildren, seven nieces and nephews, a brother Jerry Allen (Sharon)
Collins of Sedalia, MO. A graveside service will be held at a later date at
Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.
