Byron K. Prough
March 15, 1937 ~ March 5, 2017
Byron K. "Barney" Prough, 79, of Shipshewana, died at 6:28 am on Sunday,
March 5, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born on March 15, 1937 in
Shipshewana, to Russel and Marjorie (Spreuer) Prough.  On August 24, 1956
in Angola he married Jacquelyn Kolady; she survives. Survivors in addition
to his wife are two daughters, Ann (Jeff) Keenan of Goshen, Sally (Mart)
Ballard of Columbia City; two sons, Todd (Janet) Prough of Nappanee, Scott
(Trish) Prough of Shipshewana; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren,
one great great granddaughter; four sisters, Frances Prough and Ella Yoder
both of Shipshewana, Martha (Les) Pence of Sheridan, Mary Lou (Jack)
VanAntwerp of Howe.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister,
four brothers, one grandson, one granddaughter and one great
granddaughter. Byron was a Korean War veteran and a retired truck driver
providing Amish taxi service after retirement. He loved playing with his
grandchildren and dogs and enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Visitation will
be from 4:00- 8:00 pm on Thursday March 9, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home,
1003 South Main Street Middlebury. There will be one hour of visitation prior
to the 10:30 am funeral service on Friday, March 10, also at the funeral home.
Services will be conducted by his son Pastor Todd Prough. Burial will be in
Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to ARK Animal
Sanctuary of LaGrange.
