Andrew B. Raber
Andrew B. Raber, of Shipshewana, died at 10:10 am, on Tuesday, January
14 at Life Care Center, LaGrange. He was born on September 12, 1921 in
LaGrange County, to Benjamin and Anna (Lehman) Raber. On November 23,
1944, in Shipshewana, he married Alta Farmwald, she died May 1, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters - Anna Fern (Amos) Hochstetler of Howe and
Sue Ellen Raber of LaGrange; three sons - LaVern (Leona) Raber of
Shipshewana, Wilbur (Esther) Raber of Ligonier, and Harvey (Mary) Raber of
Millersburg; 35 grandchildren, 102 great grandchildren, four great-great
grandchildren; two sisters - Mary Raber and Soloma Raber both of Topeka;
and a brother - Joni (Fannie Mae) Raber of Middlebury. He was preceded in
death by his wife, parents, two sisters- Abigail Bontager and Mattie Raber,
and three brothers- Abraham Raber, Moses Raber and John Raber. He was
a member of the Old Order Amish Church and became an ordained minister
in 1956. He was a farmer and a black smith. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm
on Thursday, January 16 and all day Friday, January 17 at the Steve Raber
residence, 5980 W. 200 North, Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30
am on Saturday January 18, also at the Steve Raber residence. Services will
be conducted by Bishop Menno Petersheim and the home ministers. Burial
will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.
